Emilia

María Emilia Mernes Rueda (October 29, 1996), simply known as Emilia, is an Argentine singer-songwriter, model, and actress. Hailing from Nogoyá, Entre Ríos, she dreamed of becoming a performer but didn't take it seriously until her grandfather gave her a guitar at the age of 12. After dropping out of college, she developed a following on social media by posting covers to her video-streaming channel, quickly catching the attention of Uruguayan cumbia-pop band Rombai, who invited Emilia to audition in Buenos Aires to become their new lead singer. Following two intense years of touring throughout Latin America, Emilia announced her departure from the band in 2018, relocating two months later to Miami and landed a record deal with Sony Music. "Recalienta," her debut single, appeared in 2019 and reached number 68 on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100, followed by the Darell duet "No Soy Yo" and "Billion" later that year. In 2020, her single "Bendición" with Alex Rose, hit Number 1 on the Monitor Latino charts. Throughout 2021, her collaborations with Duki ("Como Si No Importara Nada"), Tiago PZK ("Rápido Lento"), and MYA ("BB") all cracked the Top 5 of the Argentina Hot 100, earning her a nomination for Best Female Newcomer at the Lo Nuestro Awards. Her highly anticipated studio debut, Tú Crees en Mí? hit the shelves in 2022 and climbed to number 49 on the Spanish charts, with live album titled Emilia en Vivo arriving shortly after. Throughout 2023, the singer continued to dominate the charts on a regular basis, landing two singles, "Jagger" and "No Se Ve" in the Argentine Top 5, and scoring yet another chart-topper with "Los del Espacio," a track recorded in collaboration with Lit Killah, Tiago PZK, María Becerra, Duki, Rusherking, FMK, and Big One. "GTA," released in September, entered the Argentine Hot 100 at number 11, ahead of her hotly anticipated second album .MP3, released just two months later.
