Eric Stromer was born April 28, 1961, in Evanston, IL. He excelled at track and football in school, but also developed a passion for the arts, and he regularly participated in local talent shows, which led him to enroll in the University of Colorado's theater department. It didn’t work out too well and Stromer only lasted a week at the school. He began to work in home construction in Colorado, branching out into home remodeling after a move to Los Angeles, and eventually started his own company in 1993, Big House Construction, which quickly grew into a successful business with several celebrity clients. Through it all, Stromer continued to explore the performing arts, developing into a professional songwriter and placing music on the soundtracks to several television shows and the movie The Wild Side. Stromer’s natural good looks led him straight into television, and he appeared on Trading Spaces, Clean Sweep, and other shows as well as co-hosting Top Gear and hosting Over Your Head, managing to combine his twin passions for the arts and for home construction into a single arc. He also wrote and published a book, Do-It-Yourself Family, and produced, scored, and starred in a short comedy film, The Acting Thing, which did well on the film festival circuit. Stromer continued to work on music as well, and recorded an album in Nashville in 2008. ~ Steve Leggett
