Firewind

Firewind are a power metal band from Greece steered by guitarist Gus G. aka Kostas Karamitroudis. The group started life as a one-person project for the Thessaloniki-born artist's 1998 demo Nocturnal Symphony after which he began scouting musicians in various countries. The guitars, bass, and keyboards were recorded in Greece while singer Stephen Fredrick and drummer Brian Harris recorded their parts in the US. The songs were mixed in Sweden. This is how Firewind's debut album, Between Heaven and Hell, was conceived and released in 2002. Gus G. hired new members for subsequent albums, this time on location. In 2006 and 2007, Firewind toured Asia, the US, Africa, and Europe, which amounted to almost 100 concerts in total. They opened for well-known acts such as Edguy and Joe Satriani. In 2012, the band achieved a chart entry in Germany with the album Few Against Many, which landed at number 90. The 2017 follow-up LP Immortals and 2020's self-titled effort also made it into the charts in Germany and Switzerland. Firewind released Stand United in March 2024, which reached number 26 in Germany.
