First Aid Kit

Swedish duo First Aid Kid was formed in 2007 in Svedmyra, Stockholm, Sweden by sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg. Influenced by American folk and country genres, the group recorded their debut EP Drunken Trees in 2008, followed by studio album The Big Black and The Blue in 2010 to critical acclaim, bringing them international notoriety. During their first American tour, First Aid Kit were contacted by The White Stripes front man Jack White, who invited the duo to record covers of Buffy Sainte-Marie’s “Universal Soldier” as well as Mel London and Tampa Red’s “It Hurts Me Too” in his studio. The duo’s second album The Lion’s Roar was released in 2012, charting at number 1 in Sweden and in the top 40 across Europe and the UK, gaining traction in the United States after several late-night show appearances. Featuring on multiple television and game soundtracks including Bones (television series) and The Long Dark (video game), the duo received several accolades in 2012 with their single “Emmylou” ranking at number 10 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s Single of the Year list and earning four Swedish Grammis including Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best Pop of the Year and Album of the Year. Signing with Columbia Records in 2014, the duo topped the charts once again with third studio album Stay Gold prior to a recording hiatus, returning in 2017 with popular International Women’s Day single “You Are the Problem Here”. Releasing their Gold-certified fourth studio album Ruins in January 2018, First Aid Kit continued to record several covers and EPs throughout 2018-2019, earning nominations for several international awards, receiving the prestigious Swedish Ulla Billquist scholarship in October 2019. Returning to the international touring scene in 2022, including an appearance at UK's Glastonbury Festival, the duo released lead single “Angel” in June from their forthcoming album Palomino which debuted at number 3 on the Swedish charts.
