Foreigner

With their catchy power ballads and soaring guitar solos Foreigner became one of the big soft rock acts of the 1980s, selling over 70 million albums. Led by former session musician Mick Jones, the band scored US top ten hits with early singles 'Feels Like the First Time' and 'Cold As Ice', while debut album 'Foreigner' (1977) reached number four and became one of the biggest-selling records of the year. Following albums 'Double Vision' (1978) and 'Head Games' (1979) proved just as popular, before '4' (1981) topped the US charts and became a big hit in Europe. 'Agent Provocateur' (1984) gave the band their first UK number one album before their finest moment came when the single 'I Want to Know What Love Is' topped the US charts and became the band's defining, signature anthem. Other hits down the years included 'Urgent', 'Waiting for a Girl Like You', 'Say You Will' and 'I Don't Want to Live Without You', and the band became synonymous with classic rock preening and arena filling choruses. They released their ninth album 'Can't Slow Down' in 2009 and embarked on a tour with Styx and Kansas in 2010. They also toured with Journey in the UK and released 'Acoustique' in 2011, an album of acoustic versions of their most famous tracks. With several cases of ill health, multiple line-up changes were made. Mick Jones and Lou Gramm were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013 and the band embarked on a tour with The Eagles and Styx in 2014. They were the opening act for Kid Rock in 2015 and appeared at the Durham Fair in Connecticut in 2016. To celebrate 40 years of the band in 2016 they released a limited edition vinyl EP titled 'The Flame Still Burns' featuring live, unplugged versions of 'Feels Like the First Time', 'Long, Long Way from Home' and 'Juke Box Hero'. They also scheduled a series of concerts to celebrate their anniversary including Jones Beach Theater in New York, MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida and the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
