Jazz Funk Soul

The jazz trio Jazz Funk Soul created quite a stir when they first formed in 2014 - all three members were highly respected musicians in their own right and the group were eagerly anticipated as a smooth jazz supergroup. The band were formed around the talents of sax player Evette Harp, guitarist Chuck Loeb and keyboard player Jeff Lorber. Harp was a Texas born R&B specialist who had previously played with George Duke, Sheena Easton and Kenny Loggins. Loeb was a successful crossover artist from New York whose versatile guitar playing had earned him gigs with artists such as Stan Getz, Steps Ahead and Gary Burton. Lorber is possibly the best known member of the trio, he was born in Philadelphia and was a two-time Grammy nominee with his own solo work and his band The Jeff Lorber Fusion had been successful on the jazz and R&B circuit for a number of years. Despite the musical pedigree of the band their much anticipated debut album 'Shanachie', released in 2014, met with a lukewarm critical reception. Undeterred, the trio retuned to the studio and in 2016 released their sophomore album 'More Serious Business' which was met with a much more positive response from fans and critics alike.
