Jed Madela

Jed Madela – born John Edward Tiña Tajanlangit in Iloilo City, Iloilo, Philippines on July 14, 1977 – is a singer, songwriter, and entertainer best known as the first Filipino to win the World Championship of the Performing Arts title. Nicknamed ‘The Voice’ and ‘The Singer’s Singer’, he first came to prominence in 2003 when he was the first male representative from the Philippines to participate in the Voice of Asia contest. During that contest, he won the People’s Choice Award as well as the Silver Trophy. He also won the Best Voice of Asia Male Singer of the Year 2003 from Kazakhstan’s Mainhill Awards. At the end of 2003, he released his debut album, I’ll Be Around, which included the hit single “Let Me Love You (From the Bottom of My Heart).” The following year, his Songs Rediscovered album was certified double platinum and featured the hits “How Can I Fall” and “The Past.” In 2005, he made history when he won all the major awards at the World Championship of the Performing Arts competition including six gold medals, the Championship Vocalist World Star Trophy, and the title Grand Champion Performer of the World. His next two albums -Only Human (2007) and Songs Rediscovered 2: The Ultimate OPM Playlist (2009) – went platinum while The Classics (2010) and Breathe Again (2011) were not as popular. Switching labels, Jed Madela released the album All Original (2013), which featured new songs including one written by Jed himself. His 2015 album Iconic found him recording songs by iconic pop divas such as Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Whitney Houston, and many others. The album Superhero followed in 2019, which featured the singles “Di Matitinag” and “Superhero.” A popular live performer, Jed Madela has played sell-out tours all around the world. He’s also appeared as a judge on several televised talent competition shows and appeared in the films All About Love (2006) and Shake, Rattle and Roll 12 (2010). One of the Philippines’ most respected singers, he’s won numerous awards during his career including honors from the Awit Awards, the Laguna Excellence Awards, the PMPC Star Awards for Music, and many more.
