Jennifer Lopez

From her humble beginnings as a dancer in The Bronx, American singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has conquered the worlds of Hollywood, pop, and fashion to become a global pop culture icon. Born on July 24, 1969, in New York City, she was first spotted as a backup dancer for Janet Jackson. She then kicked off a successful acting career with starring roles in the hit movies Selena, Anaconda, and Out Of Sight. Encouraged by then-boyfriend Sean 'Puff Daddy' Combs, Jennifer Lopez turned to music with her studio debut On the 6 in 1999. Quickly becoming a tabloid favorite thanks to a high-profile romance with actor Ben Affleck which saw the couple dubbed "Benniffer," she went on to score huge hits with the singles "If You Had My Love," "Love Don't Cost a Thing," and "I'm Real." Her second album, 2001's J.Lo, topped the Billboard 200 while also reaching number 1 in several European countries. In 2002, she returned with This Is Me... Then, an R&B and soul-oriented record inspired by her relationship with Ben Affleck. Fashion, jewelry, and lingerie lines turned J.Lo into a successful entrepreneur before resuming her music endeavors with the albums Rebirth (2005) and Como Ama una Mujer (2007), both produced by her then-husband Marc Anthony. Still acting and singing, Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins in 2008 and became a judge on American Idol in 2010. Love?, written and recorded during her pregnancy, arrived in 2011 and cracked the Top 5 of the US pop charts. It was followed by 2014's A.K.A., which rose to number 8 in the United States. Though she continued to experience success as an actress and TV personality over the following years, it wasn't until 2024 that she returned to music with her ninth LP This Is Me... Now, a sequel to her 2002 third full-length album.
