Kassi Ashton

The American country musician Kassi Ashton was born in California, Missouri, on February 3, 1994. Raised by an artistic mother and a Harley-riding father, she grew in the rural midwest and began writing her own songs at 15 years old. Her budding music career took her to Nashville, Tennessee, where she studied music at Belmont University and released her debut single — "California, Missouri," a tribute to her small-town roots — in 2018. The song earned more than a million digital streams, as did follow-up singles like "Pretty Shiny Things," "Violins," and "Field Party," all of which were released in 2019. That same year, Keith Urban released his popular music video for "Drop Top," which featured Kassi Ashton as a guest vocalist. "Drop Top" appeared on Urban's album Graffiti U, which peaked at Number 1 on the US Top Country Albums, Number 2 on the Billboard 200, and went gold in both America and Australia. Now signed to UMG Nashville, Kassi Ashton continued building her audience with a stream of non-album singles, releasing "Hopeless" and "Black Motorcycle" in 2020, "Heavyweight" in 2021, and "Dates in Pickup Trucks" in early 2022. The latter song became her first song to hit the Billboard charts, reaching Number 58 on Country Airplay that April.
