Kenny Chesney

One of country music's brightest stars, Kenny Chesney was born Kenneth Arnold Chesney on March 26th, 1968, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was raised in Luttrell, Tennessee, home to one of Nashville's greatest legends, Chet Atkins. He was still in his late teens when he received his first guitar as a Christmas present as he taught himself to play and produced his own demo record. Graduating from East Tennessee State University with a degree in advertising, he headed for Nashville, earning a regular slot as resident at The Turf Club. Getting a deal with Capricorn Records, he released his first album, In My Wildest Dreams, in 1994. Although it only sold moderately, its successor, All I Need to Know, produced three hit singles – “Fall in Love,” “All I Need to Know,” and “Grandpa Told Me So.” Kenny Chesney achieved his first number 1 single in 1997 with “She's Got It All” from the album I Will Stand. His crossover breakthrough came in 1999 with the album Everywhere We Go which sold over 2 million copies and produced the chart-topping singles “How Forever Feels” and “You Had Me at Hello,” a song inspired by the movie Jerry Maguire. In 2005, Chesney became tabloid newspaper fodder after his marriage to actress Renée Zellweger ended after just four months but the hit albums continued with The Road and the Radio (2005), Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates (2007), and Hemingway's Whiskey (2010). Welcome to the Fishbowl, his 13th studio album, was released in 2012, led by the duet single with Tim McGraw, “Feel Like a Rock Star.” He followed this album with Life on a Rock (2013), The Big Revival (2014) and Cosmic Hallelujah (2016). After a long contract with Sony Music Nashville, Chesney moved to Warner and released his 17th album, Songs for the Saints in 2018. He found himself atop the Billboard 200 once more with its 2020 successor, Here and Now, which yielded 3 Hot 100 hits including “Tip of My Tongue,” co-written by global superstar Ed Sheeran. Preceded by the banjo-driven single "Take Her Home," Kenny Chesney's 20th studio album Born arrived in 2024.
