Madison Cunningham

California native Madison Cunningham, a singer/songwriter who mixed her penchant for writing Laurel Canyon-inspired folk songs with sonic elements taken from such disparate genres as jazz, classical music, and rock, began her musical journey at the age of seven when she began playing the guitar. As a child, she performed regularly with her sisters at the church where their father preached. She self-released her debut album, 2014’s Authenticity, before she turned 20. She gained a following playing throughout Los Angeles and issued the EP Love, Lose Remember in 2017. For the Sake of the Rhyme, another EP, followed in 2018. She honed her chops touring with the Punch Brothers, and became a fixture in the band on the radio show Live from Here. All this set the stage for 2019’s Who Are You Now, her first album recorded for a label. That record, filled with songs about relationships, captured her many sonic influences, her unique guitar skills, and her lyrical debt to such revered songwriters as Joni Mitchel and Fiona Apple. The LP earned a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album.
