Maggie Rogers

With just two self-recorded, home-produced albums and a single viral hit to her name, Easton, Maryland native Maggie Rogers (April 25, 1994) is a product of the modern age in music where, through Internet exposure, she has achieved worldwide recognition in a very short time. Her debut album The Echo, recorded in 2012, is a collection of ten songs that Maggie Rogers used as part of her application to attend The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in New York. Having secured a place at the Institute, Maggie Rogers went on to record her second album Blood Ballet in 2014. Both albums are written in a folk-influenced, indie style. While on a studying trip to Europe, Maggie Rogers' exposure to electronic music led to a change of style and the creation of the song "Alaska," a piece written about her experiences with R&B producer Pharrell Williams. A video showing the emotional response of Williams listening to the track went viral, resulting in hundreds of thousands of plays of The Echo and Blood Ballet. The level of interest generated by "Alaska" prompted Rogers to release a finished version of the song. The EP Now That the Light Is Fading was released in 2017, with her third full-length album Heard It in a Past Life following in 2019. The album rose to Number 2 on the US pop charts and earned Maggie Rogers a Grammy nomination in the category of Best New Artist in 2020. Preceded by the singles "That's Where I Am," "Want Want," and "Horses," her second LP Surrender appeared in 2022 and reached Number 12 on the Billboard 200.
