Manuel Turizo

Latin pop firework Manuel Turizo scored a breakthrough hit with 2016 single "Una Lady Como Tú", which lit up his star in Latin America, made huge waves online, and won a Colombian Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Song in 2017. Born Manuel Turizo Zapata on April 12, 2000 in the Colombian coastal town of Montería, Turizo – who comes from a musical family – began making music at age thirteen. Lending his focus to reggaeton, he has also experimented with R&B, trap, urbano and the Colombian folk style of vallenato. In 2017, he assisted Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Valentino on "Bésame" and by the following September had notched up his first Billboard Hot 100-charting hit for his collaborative single with Ozuna, "Vaina Loca". Dripping with reggaeton and romance, his debut album, ADN, arrived in August 2019 and featured collaborations with Zion & Lennox, Norie Ozuna, Darell, Nicky Jam, Sech, and Anuel AA. Reaching Number Four in Mexico and hitting Billboard's Top Ten Latin Albums chart, ADN confirmed Turizo's place as one of Colombia's popular new homegrown artists. For his follow-up album of 2021, Dopamina, the multi-instrumentalist amped up the star power with a feature from will.i.am on poker-hot roller "Caliente", while flexing his creative muscles across a more diverse palette that included the guitar-pop of closing track "Antes Que Te Vayas." That year, a prolific Manuel Turizo began teasing his next album with the single "Te Olvido," followed by collaborations with Duki ("Una Vaina Loca") and Luis Fonsi ("Vacaciones") before dropping the massive hit "La Bachata" in 2022. Named after one of the Dominican Republic's most popular musical genres, "La Bachata" rose to number 1 in countries like Argentina, Mexico, and Spain, and was certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. This success helped set the stage for the arrival of his third full-length album 2000, which was released in 2023 and peaked at number 11 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart.
