Max Cooper

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on May 19, 1980, electro/techno producer and DJ Max Cooper is best known for his remixes of artists like A Revoir Simone and Michael Nyman & David McAlmont as well as his own releases. When he was younger, he was inspired to become a geneticist after reading science books including titles written by Stephen Hawking. Cooper earned a doctorate in computational biology from Nottingham University. Working as a geneticist, he also dabbled in music on the side, using scientific ideas to create a unique electronic style. His early EPs – including One Is None, Tamperine and Ergo – were released in 2007. After a handful of independently-released singles, he decided to focus entirely on music in 2010. His series of singles continued to earn acclaim, which attracted the attention of other artists. Cooper was recruited to mix tracks by Andrew K, Hot Chip, Sasha, Au Revoir Simone, and Michael Nyman & David McAlmont. Cooper released his debut album, Human, in 2014. The album was praised by fans of minimalist techno and electronica. His second album, Emergence, followed in 2016. Two years later, he released a remix album, Balance 030, and his third proper album One Hundred Billion Sparks. Cooper’s fourth album, Yearning for the Infinite, was issued in 2019.
