Michael Patrick Kelly

Michael Patrick “Paddy” Kelly (December 5, 1977) is an Irish singer-songwriter who rose to fame as the third youngest member of the itinerant folk pop outfit The Kelly Family. Born in Dublin to American parents, he was exposed to music from a very early age as he traveled throughout Europe and the United States performing with his family. Widely regarded as one of the most commercially successful acts in European music, the Kellys acted as a sort of platform from which Michael Patrick Kelly could launch his own career, which started in 2003 with the album In Exile. Stressed by the ever-growing media attention, he decided to seclude himself in a monastery in France in 2004. After six long years in isolation that helped him put things in perspective, Michael Patrick Kelly decided to return to the music business as he started writing and recording material for his next album. Released in 2015, his sophomore effort Human was hugely popular in Germany, where it reached Number 3. Michael Patrick Kelly followed up with Ruah (2016) and ID (2017), which bowed at Number 2 in Germany and obtained platinum certification by the BVMI. In subsequent years, he experienced a surge in popularity in Poland with the chart-topping single “Beautiful Madness” (2020). The single “Throwback” (2021) met a similar fate, peaking at Number 8 in Poland and hitting Number 30 in Germany.
