Miguel Antonio is a charting pop singer from Singapore whose professional career was abetted by composer and producer David Foster; his debut single, 2018's "Ship in a Mason Jar," was issued by WEA Asia and charted on streaming channels across the continent.
From the time he was old enough to use his voice, Antonio loved singing. He was by all measures a "normal" child who enjoyed basketball, fishing, skating, and playing piano and guitar. His family admired his musical efforts, but had no idea he possessed the necessary talent to pursue a musical career. That began to change in 2010 when, at age ten, he won a singing competition with his rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical Les Miserables. A year later he participated in Foster's cross-continental talent search, and eventually won the Born to Sing Asia competition. Foster personally selected him to perform at the David Foster & Friends concert in Singapore. In 2014, Antonio signed with BMBX Entertainment under the curatorial watch of Grammy-winning producer Apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas in his first step toward fulfilling his dream of becoming a career artist. The management deal led to his signing with WEA Asia in late 2017, before releasing the Michael Jackson-influenced "Ship in a Mason Jar" in the spring of the following year. ~ Thom Jurek
