Newsboys

Newsboys are an Australian Christian rock band formed in Mooloolaba, Queensland in 1985 by vocalist Peter Furter, who left in 2009, and guitarist George Perdikis, who left in 1990. Other musicians have joined the ranks since then including singer John James and bassists Sean Taylor and Phil Joel. The current line-up features guitarist Jody Davis, drummer Duncan Phillips, keyboard player Jeff Frankenstein and singer Michael Tait. Their debut album 'Hell Is for Wimps' came out in 1990. 'Not Ashamed' (1992) was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Rock/Contemporary Gospel Album and 'Going Public' (1994) was nominated as Best Rock Gospel Album. They have had 24 releases on Billboard's Top Christian Albums Chart including 15 in the top ten and six that reached number one including 'Take Me to Your Leader' (1996), 'Step Up to the Microphone' (1998), 'Adoration: The Worship Album' (2003) and 'Born Again' (2010). They have had 30 tracks on the Hot Christian Songs Chart with 12 in the top ten and 'You Are My King (Amazing Love)' in 2003 which topped the chart. Their 2007 release 'Go: Remixed' peaked at number ten on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums Chart and they toured internationally with their 2019 schedule including appearances at several venues across America.
