Nik P.

A popular 'schlager' singer who has been belting out romantic pop ballads over soaring, Euro-pop dance beats since the late 1990s, Nik P. had his most notable success when he teamed up with DJ Otzi in 2006. Born in Friesach, Carintha in Austria, he was adopted at nine-years-old after his mother died and grew up to work as a carpenter and complete national service before landing a record deal with his band Reflex in 1997. His debut single Dream Lover marked him out as a likeable, mainstream pop entertainer, but it wasn't until the mid-2000s that albums Briefe A Den Monde and Lebenslust & Leidenschaft made the top ten in Austria and his reputation really started to grow. DJ Otzi had already made his name with the huge worldwide hit Hey Baby, and when Nik P. collaborated with him in 2007, their united love for kitsch pop singalongs and club anthems created the smash hit Ein Stern. It topped the charts in Germany and Austria for 18 weeks and sold over 1.8 million copies and Nik P. started selling out stadiums alongside the likes of younger artists of the same genre like Voxxclub, Andreas Gabalier and Helene Fischer. Later albums Der Junge Mit Der Luftgitarre and Bis Ans Meer also reached number one in his home land and he again teamed up with DJ Otzi in 2016 on the single Geboren Um Dich Zu Lieben.
