Niniola

Niniola – born Niniola Apata on December 15, 1986 in Lagos State, Nigeria – is an afro-house singer and songwriter. She first came to prominence in 2013 when she was the third runner-up on the sixth season of talent show Project Fame West Africa. Niniola was raised in Lagos State and earned her Bachelor of Education certificate from the University of Lagos. While attending school, she entered several competitions, which eventually led to her high-profile appearance on Project Fame West Africa. Although she did not win the 2013 competition, she still landed a recording contract. Niniola released her debut single “Ibadi” in March, 2014. The single was a success, topping the national charts and receiving extensive airplay. Over the next two years, she released seven singles leading up to the release of her 2017 debut album, This is Me. The album’s first official single, “Maradona”, reached the Number 1 spot on the singles charts in Nigeria and South Africa. The album’s second single, “Sicker”, climbed to the Number 5 position. Her second album, Colours and Sounds, was released in 2019. The album was more successful than her debut and featured six singles that reached the Top 10 in Nigeria. One of the singles, “Designer” (featuring Sarz), reached the Number 1 spot on the UK singles chart.
