Pamela

Born in Heidelberg, Germany on February 25, 1973, Pamela Spence is a pop / rock singer and actress who performs under her first name only. The daughter of an English father and Turkish mother, Pamela grew up in the US and England and became interested in music while performing in several musicals. When she first began her career, she was singing English lyrics in various bands that she sang for. In 1998, she traveled to Turkey and won the lead role in the Turkish-language version of the stage musical They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? That same year, she also performed on the Turkish preliminary Eurovision Song Contest show but did not win. The experience inspired her to stay in Turkey and pursue her musical career. While performing as a backing vocalist for several Turkish rock artists, she came to prominence in 2002 in a high-profile chewing gum commercial. The interest helped land her a record label contract and she quickly released her debut album, Eğer Dinlersen... (2002) and the hit single “Ayrılamayız Biz.” Her rock-oriented sophomore album, Şehir Rehberi, was released in 2004 and included the hit single “Istanbul,” which won the Turkish Music Award from Kral TV for Best Rock or Alternative Song. After the release of her third album Cehennet (2006), she released a series of non-album singles before returning with the 2010 album Style Zengini. Eight years of sporadic singles and collaborations followed before Pamela returned with her fifth album Yara (2018). Over the next five years, she issued a handful of singles including “Dayanamiyorum” (2020) “Benimle Cal” (2021), “Yedikule” (2022), and “SÖZ” (2023).
