Pentagon is a South Korean boy band, originally made up of ten members but currently a nine-piece since the exit of Kim Hyo-jong in 2018. The band is a construction of South Korea's Cube Entertainment company, which launched the outfit in 2016. With the group's cast finalised they played their first concert in December 2016, with tickets selling out in less than ten minutes of release. 2017 saw Cube extending the band's international reach into Japan with the release of the 'Violet' EP. The group's first Japanese tour, with three dates, went ahead two years later in 2019 and this was followed later in the year with the announcement of the first world tour by the group, however, without the inclusion of singer Yan An due to ill health.
