Pete Yorn

Born on July 27, 1974, in Pompton Plains, New Jersey, US indie-rock multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Peter Joseph Yorn records under the name Pete Yorn. Taught how to play the drums by his Hollywood talent manager older brother Rick Yorn at the age of nine, Pete Yorn began his musical career in his 20s, releasing his debut LP, musicforthemorningafter, in March 2001 on Columbia Records. An alt-rock-leaning record peppered with acoustic moments, the album was a critical success, largely thanks to the lead single, "Life On a Chain," and helped to pave the way for his second album, Day I Forgot, which was released in 2003. The album was known for several standout singles, including the radio hit "Come Back Home" and "Turn of The Century," which was featured in the 2004 American romantic comedy film The Girl Next Door. He released his third album, Nightcrawler, in 2006, which went to number 50 in the US, and his fourth studio album, Back and Forth, arrived in 2009, reaching Number 32. Teaming up with Hollywood A-lister Scarlett Johansson, that same year Pete Yorn created the collaborative record Break Up, which was inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's 1967 and 1968 albums with Brigitte Bardot and which was known for its hit single "Relator," which was certified Gold in France. In 2010, Pete Yorn released a new eponymous solo album, and after a six-year gap between albums, returned in 2016 with the studio effort called ArrangingTime, which went to number 63. He joined forces with Scarlett Johansson again in 2018 for the Apart EP, and the following year released his seventh studio album, Caretakers. 2021 saw the release of Pete Yorn Sings the Classics, a full-length record of cover songs released on Shelly Records and featuring cover versions of Pixies' “Here Comes Your Man" and the Andy Williams classic "Moon River," among others. Pete Yorn returned with 2022’s critically acclaimed album Hawaii, which was a collaboration with indie rock band Day Wave. In 2024, he released the single “Someday, Someday.”
