Peter Hofmann

Peter Hofmann was a German tenor who trained at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe and first found success and international acclaim performing the role of Siegmund in Wagner's 'Die Walküre' at the Bayreuth Festival in 1976. He went on to enjoy a prolific career in opera during the 1970s and '80s, performing roles including Lohengrin, Parsifal, Tristan and Loge in opera houses across the world. In addition to his opera career, Hofmann also enjoyed success in musical theatre and performing and recording popular music, including the album 'Rock Classics', released in 1987. Hofmann was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1994 and, following a lengthy battle with the disease, passed away in 2010 after contracting pneumonia.
