Redimi2

Willy González Cruz, best known by his stage name Redimi2, was born on June 3, 1979, in Santo Domingo, and has become one of the leading figures in the Dominican Christian rap scene. Widely celebrated as the first rapper to release a Christian rap album in the Dominican Republic, Redimi2 has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Lucía Parker, Annette Moreno, Danny Berrios, Jesús Adrián Romero, and Puerto Rican rap talents like Vico C, Funky, Alex Zurdo, and Manny Montes. He first stepped onto the musical stage in 1999, launching his career with Redimi2 Squad alongside his brother JG and their friend Chiky. Following the departure of other members, he adopted the group's name as his solo identity, marking the genesis of a prolific career. Combinación Mortal, his studio debut, was released in 2000 and was followed by other well-received albums such as Hasta los Dientes (2004), Revolución (2006), Phenomenon Edition (2009), Exterminador Operación P.R. (2011), and Exterminador Operación R.D. (2012), all of which combined hip-hop and Latin urban music with a powerful religious message. In 2013, the album Más, a collaborative effort with Puerto Rican Christian urban artist Funky, won Best Urban Album at the Arpa Awards. Released in 2014, his full-length Operación Mundial featured the Christine D'Clario collaboration "El Nombre de Jesús." Over the following years, Redimi2 continued honing his talents on albums like Pura Sal (2017), Trapstornadores (2018), and 20/20 (2020), which contained the award-winning Almighty collaboration "Filipenses 1:6." Another career highlight came in 2021 when he appeared on Evan Craft's song "Be Alright" with Danny Gokey, which peaked at Number 2 on Billboard's Hot Christian Songs chart. This success solidified his standing as a major force in Christian music.
