Sakanaction

Previously members of the Japanese band Dutchman, Ichiro Yamaguchi and Motoharu Iwaderu had a period of performing as soloists before forming the band Sakanaction in 2005. The remaining members of the band, Ami Kusakari, Emi Okazaki and Keeichi Ejima joined in 2006 to complete the line-up. They were first noticed when they performed at the Rising Sun Rock Festival in 2006. They released the album 'Go to the Future' in 2007, which included two tracks originally released by Dutchman: 'Mikazuki Sunset' and 'Inner World'. The single 'Words/Sample' was released at the same time as the album. Their second album 'Night Fishing' was released in 2008 followed by 'Shin-shiro' which enjoyed more success, reaching number eight in the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart in 2009. Singles from the album 'Sen to Rei' and 'Native Dancer' reached number nine and number 60 respectively in the Hot Japan 100 Chart. In 2010, Sakanaction's album 'Kikuuiki' reached number three in the Japanase Albums Chart and the single 'Aruku Around' was their highest placed so far, reaching number three in the Japanese Singles Chart and number four in the Hot Japan 100 Chart. It was certified Platinum for sales and won the Space Shower Music Video Award for Best Rock Video and Best Video of the Year in 2011. The band's next album release, 'Documentaly' (2011) reached number two in the Japanese Albums Chart and was certified Gold for sales. Singles 'Identity' and 'Rookie' both reached number seven in the Hot Japan 100. The most successful single from this album, however, was 'Bach No Senritsu O Yoru Ni Kiita Sei Desu'. This was certified Gold for sales, reached number four in the Hot Japan 100 and number eight in the Japanese Singles Chart. Sakanaction's first number one album, the self-titled 'Sakanaction' from 2013, contained the popular singles 'Boku to Hana', 'Yoru No Odoriko' and 'Music', which all reached the top six in the Japanese Singles Chart. In 2014 the band released four non-album singles: 'Goodbye' and 'Eureka' both reaching number two in the Japanese Singles Chart, 'Hasu No Hanu' and 'Sayonara Wa Emotion' both reaching number four. The band released an album of remixes of their hits titled 'Natsukashii Tsuki Wa Atarashii Tsuki: Coupling & Remix Works' in 2015 and a greatest hits album in 2018 entitled 'Sakanzukan' which reached number one in the Japanese Albums Chart. The single 'Shin Takarajima' from this album reached number nine in the Japanese Singles Chart and number one in the Hot Japan 100 in 2018. In 2019, Sakanaction released their first non-compilation album for six years titled '834.194'. They also released the single 'Wasurerarenaino' as part of the SoftBank Music Project.
