Sheryn Regis

Born on 26 November 1979 in Carcar, Cebu, the Filipino pop singer-songwriter and actor Sheryn Mae Poncardas Regis dubbed the "Crystal voice of Asia" first gained national prominence during the first season of singing competition Search for the Star in a Million, (formerly Star in a Million) where she placed runner-up to Erik Santos in 2003. The following year, her song "Come in Out of the Rain," the title track of her 2004 debut album for Star Records – which also contained previous songs "Follow Your Dream" and "Among Gabayan" – became a number 1 hit in the Philippines, sealing her fate as a sought-after star. She was named Top Entertainer International Achievement Awardee and Best Female Performer in Asia Pacific at the 21st Year-Ender Excellence Awards and highly nominated in the 18th Awit Awards. She carried this success over to her second album, What I Do Best, released in 2005 and certified gold by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. She tried something different for her third album, The Modern Jukebox Collection (2006), turning in a mix of Filipino pop covers and original material, which included a remake of Joey Albert's "I Remember the Boy" that was chosen as Jasmine's theme song for soap opera Sana Maulit Muli. Folllowing the release of her fourth and final studio album Starting Over Again in 2008, she continued to perform and in 2020 collaborated with the rock band Hey Moonshine on the "Ilang Beses" single for Viva Records. Her next album, She, emerged in 2022.
