Storm Queen

Storm Queen is the stage name of American DJ, songwriter, and producer Morgan Geist, who is mostly known for being one half of Brooklyn-based house duo Metro Area. With influences that range from Detroit techno to nu-disco, he has made remixes for several artists, including Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture, and many others. Geist released a couple of albums under his own name during the late 90s and early 2000s, most notably The Driving Memoirs (1997) and Double Night Time (2008). After discovering singer Damon C. Scott busking in New York City’s subway, Geist invited him to sing on his upcoming single “Look Right Through,” which was the first to be released under his Storm Queen alias. The subsequent singles “It Goes On” (2012) and “Let’s Make Mistakes” (2013) were well received by audiences but ultimately failed to chart. In 2013, British label Ministry of Sound re-released “Look Right Through” along with a series of remixes by DJs MK, Dimitri from Paris, Danny Howard, and the Brookes Brothers. MK’s remix of the song became an instant hit, taking it to the top of the UK charts. Shortly after, the track was certified platinum in the UK for selling more than 600,000 copies.
