Toshio Matsuura

Toshio Matsuura is a Japanese DJ and producer. He first came to prominence in 1990 as a member of jazz, funk, and electronic trio United Future Organization alongside Raphael Sebbag and Tadashi Yabe. The trio released a series of albums – Jazzin’ ’91 – ’92 (1992), United Future Organization (1993), No Sound Is Too Taboo (1994), 3rd Perspective (1997), Bon Voyage (1999), and V (2002) – before Toshio Matsuura left the group in 2002 to work on solo and remix projects. He focused his attention on DJing at festivals and clubs in several different countries while also remixing tracks by James Brown, Astor Piazzolla, Gotan Project, and many others. Toshio Matsuura With a desire to bring a dance element to jazz music, he formed a project called Hex which pushed progressive jazz towards the dance floor. He released the album Hex on Blue Note Records in 2013. In 2018, he formed the Toshio Matsuura Group, which featured British musicians, and released the album Loveplaydance on the Brownswood Recordings label. He has also gained an audience as a radio DJ with several different music shows in Japan and England.
