Yves Larock

Born in Neuchâtel on July 18, 1977, Swiss-based DJ and producer Yves Larock has been pumping out kaleidoscopic house music since the early '00s. He found initial fame when he joined the Africanism project in 2005 and released the Caribbean-spiced dancefloor single "Zookey (Lift Your Leg Up)," a prominent track on the Africanism, vol 3 album and a top ten hit in France. Two years later, he reached a wider audience with breakthrough single "Rise Up," featuring vocals by Jaba. The tropical house bop lit up dancefloors in Europe and South Africa and went to number 13 on the UK Singles Chart, as well as reaching the top ten on various other European singles charts. "Rise Up" became the title track of his debut album, also released in 2008 and featuring vocals by Jaba as well as several other artists including Steve Edwards, Linda Lee Hopkins and Robin One. The LP peaked at number 94 on the Swiss album charts and paved the way for a follow-up album for Ministry of Sound, Manego, which was released in 2009. A third LP, Milky Way – also released on Ministry of Sound – landed in 2011 and he has since put out a steady stream of remixes, including reworks for House Republic, NERVO & Ivan Gough featuring Beverly Knight. In 2020, he reached number 50 on the UK chart with "Here We Go" featuring Bastian Baker. 2021 saw a raft of catchy singles emerge, including "Breathe" and "Later On," with "Kid" featuring vocalist Molie arriving in 2022.
