After studying vocal performance at Seoul Music High School, he continued to pursue his musical education in Canada, China and Japan, before performing under the name Nacseo in the Japanese underground hip hop sphere alongside crews including Dope Squad and Undisputed. The following year, Zico published his first mixtape, Zico on the Block, attracting considerable attention in the Korean hip hop scene. Debuting as the leader of Block B, Zico produced mini-album Welcome to the Block in 2011, as well as collaborating with popular South Korean artists Hyuna and Wink in 2012. In November 2015, Zico released his solo EP Gallery, containing number 1 singles “Boys and Girls” (feat. Babylon) and “Eureka” (Feat. Zion.T). Zico’s studio album Thinking, released in two parts, reached number 3 on the charts. In January 2019, Zico’s “Any Song” gained considerable traction, leading to its number 1 debut on the Gaon Digital Chart, where it stayed for a record-breaking seven weeks and certified platinum followed by the release of EP Random Box on July 1, 2019. In 2022, Zico returned to the Japanese and South Korean festival circuit, releasing his fourth EP Grown Ass Kid and single “New Thing” (feat. Homies), which was featured on the third volume of television series soundtrack Street Man Fighter.
