Zoot Money

Zoot Money is an English R&B musician whose skill on the Hammond organ has him an almost indispensable presence accompanying a long list of great artists including his own Zoot Money's Big Roll Band. He has made several solo recordings including his latest album, 'The Book of Life. I've Read It', which was released in October 2016. He remains busy as a performer and his 2018 dates include regular shows at the Bull's Head, Barnes, alternating with the Big Roll Band and the Alan Price Band. Born in Hampshire on England's south coast, he learned the French horn and sang in the choir at school and in 1961 he created the Big Roll Band which came and went with various players over the years. He performed with Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated, Georgie Fame & The Blue Flames and The Animals. He worked in America for a time with Eric Burdon's New Animals and he still plays with them occasionally and sometimes with groups called Good Money and The British Blues Quintet. In the 1980s he was musical director of the BBC television series 'Tutti Frutti' which launched the careers of Robbie Coltrane and Emma Thompson. He also has 43 acting credits on British television programmes such as sitcom 'Get Back' and long-running police drama 'The Bill'.
