Art Lande

Art Lande is a renowned American jazz pianist from New York City who has released many albums and had a long career as a teacher. He garnered attention in 1973 with an album titled 'Red Lanta' with Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek. In 1976, he formed a group called Rubisa Patrol with trumpeter and later film composer Mark Isham. They released three albums, 'Rubisa Patrol' (1976), 'Desert Marauders' (1977) and 'The Story of Ba-Ku' (1978). His other albums include 'Shift in the Wind' (1980) with bassist Gary Peacock and drummer Eliot Zigmund, 'Skylight' (1981) with saxophonist Paul McCandless and percussionist Dave Samuels and 'We Begin' (1987) with Mark Isham. His distinctive recordings of jazz standards include 'Melissa Spins Away', 'Friday the Thirteenth' and 'A Field Guide to Sleep'.
