Brian Simpson

Brian Simpson is a composer and contemporary jazz pianist known for both his solo albums and his work as a sought-after studio musician. While primarily a jazz musician, he has crossed over into the world of R&B to write for and perform with artists including Teena Marie and Janet Jackson. Simpson grew up around music and, after graduating college, moved to LA to take the plunge into the city's music scene. He played with the likes of Boney James, Norman Brown and Everette Harp. His career took a detour into pop when he toured with artists such as Jackson and co-wrote the major hit 'The First Time' for Surface. He returned to jazz, however, and over the course of his career has worked with musicians including Dave Koz, Jonathan Butler, Gerald Albright and Marc Antoine. Simpson's solo debut was the 1995 album 'Closer Still' and over the years he has followed it with releases including 'It's All Good' (2005), 'Above the Clouds' (2007), 'Just What You Need' (2013) and 'Something About You' (2018).
