Daniel Boaventura

Daniel do Rêgo Boaventura (May 19, 1970) is a Brazilian actor and singer, mostly known for his work in musical theatre. Born in the city of Salvador, he received music training from a very young age and grew up listening to a wide array of styles, ranging from MPB to classical music. Inspired by a Dire Straits live album he purchased at the age of 15, he formed the band Horas Vagas, an ensemble that was later invited to participate in the musical Cinema Cantando. After being discovered by Cia. Baiana de Patifaria's Fernando Guerreiro during his stage debut, Daniel Boaventura joined the cast of the musical Zás Trás in 1992. That same year, he also took part in a production of Bertolt Brecht's O Casamento do Burguês. In 1993, his solo show Pop n' Jazz won the Caymmi Trophy in the covers category. His rapid ascent to stardom continued during the late 90s and early aughts, with supporting roles on the musicals Beauty and the Beast (2002), Chicago (2004), and My Fair Lady (2006), as well as appearances in several sitcoms and telenovelas. In addition to his burgeoning acting career, Daniel Boaventura made his debut as a recording artist in 2009 with the album Songs 4 U, followed by Italiano (2010), Ao Vivo (2012), One More Kiss (2014), and Your Song - Ao Vivo (2015), a collection of jazz-pop standards that included a rendition of "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" with singer Carlos Rivera.
