Denis Raisin Dadre

Born on July 25, 1956 in Vaux-sur-Mer, France, Denis Raisin Dadre is a flute, recorder and reed player who specializes in Renaissance music. His musical journey began when he studied musicology in Lyon, France. He studied the recorder in Geneva, Switzerland before studying Renaissance period oboe and reed instruments in Paris, France. He earned his bachelor's degree in musicology and his performer's certificate in flute. In 1981, he began to perform as a soloist as well as in various orchestral and chamber formations. Denis Raisin Dadre then joined the flute trio I Dilettanti. He founded the Renaissance-inspired ensemble Doulce Mémoire in 1990. The ensemble performs stage events that attempt to perform music as it would have been created during the Renaissance era. Doulce Memoire’s recordings have gone on to win many awards over the years. Their catalog includes Chansons Nouvelles & Danceries (1995), Renaissance Winds (1999), Laudes (2009) and Leonardo da Vinci: la Musique Secrète (2019). In 1999, the Ministry of Culture promoted Denis Raisin Dadre to the rank of Knight of Arts and Letters. Denis Raisin Dadre serves as a professor in the early music department of the regional conservatory in Tours, France.
