El Jeffrey

José Gabriel Severino (April 1, 1973) is a Dominican merengue artist who performs under the name El Jeffrey. Born in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, he first rose to prominence with the 80s merengue group La Artillería, which gained nationwide recognition thanks to hit singles like “Soy Yo” and “Otra Noche.” During the early 90s, El Jeffrey embarked on a highly successful solo career, beginning with Por Qué Te Siento Aquí (1994) and Jeffrey Para el Mundo (1998). In 2005, he returned with the full-length Mi Vida, considered by many as one of his finest and most popular albums. A year later, the song "Palabritas," included in his 2004 release Mi Tierra, entered Billboard's Tropical Airplay chart at Number 33. Subsequently, El Jeffrey converted to Christianism and released the track “Qué Pena” in 2021, the first single from his upcoming album Mi Regreso. That same year, his single “Yo No Te Conozco” reached Number 31 on the Colombian charts.
