Elva Hsiao

Born on August 24, 1979, in Zhongli, Taoyuan, Taiwan, Elva Hsiao is a renowned Taiwanese singer. Her journey in the music industry began when she was scouted from the New Talent Singing Awards EMI where her talent was recognised by Virgin Records, who signed her as their inaugural artist in 1998. Hsiao's debut self-titled album, released in 1999, delved into pop and R&B, marking a pioneering moment for both genres across Chinese-speaking markets. The album gained significant commercial success, selling 800,000 copies across Asia the following year, with the single "Cappuccino" gaining considerable popularity in Chinese karaoke settings. Hsiao was honoured with the Best Selling Chinese Artist award at the World Music Awards in 2001 and over the coming years, continued to release thirteen more studio albums, including Tomorrow (2001), Theme Song of Love, Kissing (2002), In Love With Love (2003), 3 Faced (2008), Miss Elva (2010), and Shut Up and Kiss Me (2014). In November 2018, Hsiao revealed her plans to release a 10-song album, Naked Truth, in 2020, to celebrate two decades as a recording artist, with lead single, "In a Heartbeat," (2019) climbing to number 2 on social media charts. Surprising fans with an appearance at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards in July 2022, Hsiao confirmed her work on a new record, releasing the single "愛沒有錯" (Love Is Blameless) on November 3, 2023, which charted at number 19.
