Giovannie and the Hired Guns

Formed in 2015 in Stephenville, Texas, Givonannie and The Hired Guns are a multi-cultural band whose music mixes elements of rock & roll, Texas country, and Norteño into a diverse hybrid. Frontman Giovannie Yanez was raised in rural Lipan, Texas, where he began singing and playing guitar as a teenager. Relocating to Stephenville after graduation, he began playing his original songs at local bars and soon pieced together a band that included bassist Alex Trejo, drummer Milton Toles, and guitarists Carols Villa and Jerrod Flusche. Together, Giovannie and The Hired Guns released their debut single, "Better Days," in 2017, followed by the full-length album Bad Habits later that year. Renowned regionally for their high-energy performances, they became a must-see live act on Texas' Red Dirt concert circuit and released a second album, the self-titled Gionvannie and the Hired Guns, in 2020. The album's lead single, "Rooster Tattoo," became a viral hit, earning more than 5 million digital streams within its first year of release. Meanwhile, Giovannie and the Hired Guns continued building momentum during the Covid-19 pandemic by releasing a two-sided single in 2021, featuring the songs "Ramon Ayala" — a tribute to the Mexican Norteño legend — and "Can't Answer Why."
