Iyowa

Japanese music producer and illustrator, iyowa was born on September 23, 2000. Becoming interested in music composition at an early age, iyowa began creating his own songs in the third grade, using Nintendo DS Software: Daigasso! Band Brothers DX, soon becoming a fan of VOCALOID singing; a popular style of music creation based on AI-based music synthesis technology. Influenced by VOCALOID duo Kagerou Project, iyowa debuted as a producer while he was in high school, making his debut with “終末のお天気 (Shuumatsu no Otenki)” in 2018, which attracted considerable online attention. Having developed a unique style comprising high-pitched tones and dissonance as well as overlapping chords, iyowa has produced over 40 original songs, most notably “IMAWANOKIWA” (from 2019 debut album Sleeping Pink Noise), “1000年生きてる (1000-nen Ikiteru)” (earning him 5th place in the VOCALOID Collection 2020 Winter Contest), “アプリコット (apricot)” (2021), “たぶん終わり (Tabun Owari)” (2021) and “キュークラリン (Kyuukurarin)”, which has surpassed over 3 million views online. Releasing わたしのヘリテージ (Watashi No Heritage) in 2021, iyowa’s popularity continued to grow, with the album reaching number 4 on the Oricon Indie Albums chart, following this success in 2022 with popular singles“熱異常 / いよわ (Pajamy)” (feat. Hatsune Miku), “熱異常 / いよわ Heat Abnormal” (feat. Adachi Rei)and English-language track "AKUMA!".
