Jasmine Kara

Although initially billed as a blues singer, Jasmine Kara reinvented herself as a diverse pop artist, earning an audience that stretched far beyond her native Sweden. Born in Örebro on June 23, 1988, she moved to New York City at 18 years old and released her debut album, Blues Ain't Nothing But a Good Woman Gone Bad, in 2010. Appearances on Swedish television programs like Allsång på Skansen, Körslaget, and Let's Dance helped Kara maximize her exposure at home, while the Japanese release of Blues Ain't Nothing But a Good Woman Gone Bad in 2012 allowed her to build an international fanbase. Unbreakable, her second studio album, followed in 2014, while singles like 2017's "Gravity" — which Kara performed as part of the Swedish music competition Melodifestivalen — demonstrated the growing influence of pop and dance music on her songwriting.
