JVG

Finnish novelty act rap duo JVG have been performing rhymes about their sporting icons since 2010, becoming regarded as an eccentric, beloved national institution. United by a love of video games, ice hockey and hip-hop, Helsinki friends Jare Joakim Brand and Ville-Petteri Galle started out performing together as Jare & VilleGalle, landing their first number one single with 'Haissa' in 2011. Their albums 'Mustaa Kultaa' and 'JVG.fi' also topped the charts and in a country more associated with black metal, the duo's light-hearted raps and high energy EDM anthems quickly became popular. Other big national hits included 'Kran Turismo' with reggae singer Raappana, 'Huominen On Huomenna' with Anna Abreu and 'Sita Saat Mita Tilaat' with Ellinoora. Their song 'Tarkenee' was later used on the soundtrack to the 'EA Sports NHL '19' video game franchise. They won the first of many Emma-Gaala Awards for Newcomer of the Year in 2011 and were named Best Finnish Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2015, before later scoring more number one hits with 'Popkorni' in 2018 and 'Ikuinen Vappu' in 2019.
