Keith Getty

Famed for being the pioneer of modern hymn writing, Keith Getty is widely credited for re-inventing the traditional hymn. His compositions, often co-written with wife Kristyn and songwriter Stuart Townend, feature in many modern hymn books and have been recorded by a wide range of Christian artists including Ricky Skaggs, Alison Krauss and the Canterbury Cathedral Choir. After studying music at Durham University, Getty continued his musical education in America at the Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts. He has developed an impressive and diverse CV of musical credits including orchestrating for Sir Cliff Richard, filmscore work on the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy and writing music for McDonalds television advertising campaigns. Getty tours as a duo with his wife as Keith and Kristyn Getty and their brand of traditional music served up with a distinctly Christian feel has found favour amongst world leaders with the duo performing gigs for George W. Bush, South Korean president Lee Myung-bak and for Donald Trump's presidential running-mate Mike Pence. The duo's popular live shows regularly sell out major venues such as Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, The Glasgow Arena and Carnegie Hall. Although immensely popular in the field of Christian music Getty's lyrics have occasionally provoked ecuminical debate resulting in his work being barred from certain hymnals.
