Kenya Grace

Kenya Grace Johnson is a singer-songwriter and producer hailing from Southampton, England. Born in South Africa and later settling in the UK, her passion for music was evident early on. At a young age, a second-hand Yamaha keyboard became her first muse, leading her to showcase her vocal prowess in primary school. Initially drawn to musical theatre, her tastes evolved to embrace dance music, with dubstep capturing her attention. This fervor for music led her to the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford. Initially enrolled in history and English literature, she pivoted to music and graduated in 2019 with a degree in songwriting and creative artistry. Later that year, she made her official debut with the single "Obsessed," followed by "Tell Me Why"—a track penned amidst personal turmoil. Her collaboration with Willow Kayne secured them a spot in the Top 21 of ISawItFirst, further catapulting her to fame. Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, she continued honing her craft with tracks such as "Talk" (2020), written during lockdown, and other hits like the 2022 singles "Oranges," "Someone Else," and "Venus." However, it was 2023's "Strangers" that truly made her a global phenomenon. Composed and produced in her bedroom, the track went viral on social media, amassing staggering view counts and reaching number 2 in the United Kingdom. Its subsequent remix and the track "Only in My Mind" further showcased her diverse musical talents.
