Since stepping out in 2012 with her debut self-titled EP, Newcastle-born, Perth-raised producer and vocalist Kučka, aka Laura Jane Lowther, has collaborated and co-written material with an impressive lineup of artists, including A$AP Rocky, SOPHIE, Flume and Vince Staples. Mining a diamond-sharp electronic pop sound with her debut 2012 release, which was later re-released on Australian experimental label Wood and Wire, the following year she guested as a background vocalist on A$AP Rocky's debut album Long. Live. ASAP. and scooped five nominations and one award from the West Australian Music Industry Awards (WAMis) for her sparkling single "Unconditional". Her follow-up EP of 2015, also titled Unconditional, yielded more accolades including Best Electronic Act and Best Experimental Act at the 2015 WAMis. Over the next few years, Kučka – who grew up in Liverpool before moving to Perth, Australia at 16 and currently lives in California – lent her voice to tracks by Australian artist Flume, as well as appearing on the 2017 album by Compton rapper Vince Staples, Big Fish Theory. After signing to innovative Scottish label and design studio LuckyMe, also home to Hudson Mohawke and Virgil Abloh, Kučka ushered in the release of her debut album, Wrestling, in April 2021.
