La Rappresentante di Lista

Veronica Lucchesi and Dario Mangiaracina formed the Italian pop/rock band La Rappresentante di Lista in Valledolmo, Sicily, in 2011. Lucchesi had grown up in Viareggio, while Mangiaracina spent his childhood in Palermo. Both were theater buffs, and they met during rehearsals for the play Educazione Fisica. Describing their sound as "queer pop," the musicians made their studio debut with 2014's (per la) Via di casa, an album that featured songs performed in Spanish as well as German. Bu Bu Sad followed in 2015, featuring the singles "Apriti cielo!" and "Invisibilmente." After documenting La Rappresentante di Lista's strength as a live act with the 2017 concert album Bu Bu Sad Live, the band returned to the studio for 2018's Go Go Diva. The album's lead single, "Questo corpo," was later used in Paolo Sorrentino's The New Pope, an internationally-acclaimed TV series that expanded La Rappresentante di Lista's far beyond Italy's borders. The New Pope aired its first season in 2020, the same year that Veronica Lucchesi and Dario Mangiaracina collaborated with freestyle rapper Rancore on a cover of Elisa's hit song "Luce (Tramonti a nord est)." One year later, La Rappresentante di Lista participated in the 2021 Sanremo Music Festival with "Amare," a single that also appeared on the band's fourth album, My Mamma.
