Masayoshi Oishi

Born on December 15, 1978, in Osaka, Japanese singer-songwriter Masayoshi Oishi began his music career in 2001 as the lead vocalist of the band Sound Schedule. After the group's breakup in 2006, he made his solo debut in 2008 with the singles "Honoka Terasu" and "Ushiro no Shōmen," both included in his first studio effort Ano Machi Kono Machi. Preceded by the singles "Love" and "Gensō Underground," his second album G.D. Attraction was issued in November 2009, reaching Number 85 on the Japanese Albums Chart. Over the next few years, Masayoshi Oishi resumed his role as Sound Schedule's frontman while collaborating with musician Tom Hack on the anison project OxT, which featured in the soundtrack of shows such as Ace of Diamond, Overlord, Prince of Stride, and Hand Shakers. In 2016, his song "Yōkoso Japari Park e" was used as the opening theme to the anime series Kemono Friends, becoming extremely popular on both the Japanese streaming charts and the video-sharing site Niconico. The track's popularity helped its parent album Kariuta (2017) reach Number 15 on the Oricon charts, earning Masayoshi Oishi one of the highest-charting entries of his career. Subsequent singles such as "Otomodachi Film" (2018) and "Hands" (2018) further deepened his ties to the anime industry, appearing in the series Tada Never Falls in Love and Ultraman R/B, respectively. A second Kariuta installment was released in 2019, followed by Entertainer (2021) and the live album Masayoshi Oishi One-Man Live "Entertainer" (2022). In 2023, the single "Gift," the title track of his tenth album, entered the Top 50 of the Oricon Singles Chart at Number 16.
