Meau

Meau Hewitt (May 10, 2000), known mononymously as Meau, is a Dutch singer-songwriter. Born in the city of Blaricum, she grew up in the small town of Weesp and took piano lessons from a very early age, also participating in a children’s choir. In the years that followed, Meau appeared in several TV shows and reached new heights of popularity after making it to the finals of the music competition The Voice of Holland. After graduating from high school, she continued her education at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Herman Brood Academy in Utrecht, where she specialized in Dutch music. In 2020, she made her official debut as a recording artist with the single “Kalmte,” which was championed by radio host Timur Perlin on 3FM radio. Further singles “Weet” (2020) and “Afgesloten” (2021) preceded the release of her first EP Kalmte, released in June 2021. However, it was the single “Dat heb jij gedaan” (2021) that truly helped her break into the mainstream, reaching Number 1 of the Dutch Top 40 and earning Meau her first 3FM Talent Award. In 2022, the young singer returned with the single “Stap maar in bij mij.”
