Sayaka Kanda

Born on October 1, 1986, Sayaka Kanda (Japanese: 神田 沙也加, Hepburn: Kanda Sayaka) was a renowned actress and singer – the only child of actor Masaki Kanda and pop singer Seiko Matsuda – who provided the voice of Anna in the Japanese-dubbed version of Disney's hit Frozen, as well as scoring other achievements throughout her career. In 1999, she won the Palme d'Or du court métrage award (at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival) for her first film role, appearing in short film Bean Cake while she was studying at a Japanese school in Los Angeles. Next, she also took her first steps as a lyricist, writing lyrics for her mother Seiko Matsuda and releasing her first solo single, "Ever Since," in 2002, with her debut album Doll arriving in 2005. Her second album, Liberty, came in 2011 and she made her Kōhaku Uta Gassen (Japanese New Year's Eve TV special) debut that December, where she sang "Ue o Muite Arukō" alongside her mother. She made her a debut as a voice actor the following July on TV animation Good Luck Girl!, which ultimately paved the way for her role as Anna in the Japanese language dub of Disney's enduring animated film Frozen, as well as helping her to maintain a fruitful acting career on the small stage, and in films and theater. In April 2014, she teamed up with guitarist Billy to form the duo Trustrick, and they released their debut album, Eternity, in June that same year before going their separate ways in December 2016. Sayaka Kanda released a new solo "Roki" single in 2019 and in 2021 appeared as Carol Reed in the theater performance of Crest of the Royal Family. On December 18, 2021, she tragically died at the age of 35 after falling from her hotel building in the city of Sapporo, Hokkaido province of Japan.
