The Last Rockstars

The Last Rockstars are a Japanese supergroup featuring members of X Japan, L'Arc-en-Ciel, Vamps, Luna Sea, and Dué le Quartz. Three of the band's members — drummer/pianist Yoshiki, guitarist Miyavi, and guitarist/violinist Sugizo — previously played together in a different supergroup, S.K.I.N., although the band failed to record an album after making its live debut in 2007. 15 years later, those three members announced the formation of The Last Rockstars during a press conference in Tokyo, Japan, in November 2022. Joining the trio was L'Arc-en-Ciel's founder, Hyde, who completed The Last Rockstars' four-piece lineup. With the goal of bringing rock music back into the pop-dominated mainstream, The Last Rockstars released their self-titled debut single, "The Last Rockstars (Paris Mix)," in December 2022. The song was a hit, reaching number 4 in Japan and paving the way for the group's performance on Kōhaku Uta Gassen, Japan's long-running New Year's Eve television special. A brief international tour followed in early 2023, including sold-out performances in Tokyo, Los Angeles, and New York. Later that year, the group released a second single, "Psycho Love." The song hit the Japanese charts in August 2023, debuting at number 8 and marking the band's second Top 10 achievement.
