Tricot

Alternative / math rock band Tricot (translated: Knitting) was formed in Kyoto, Japan in 2010. Founded by vocalist / guitarist Ikumi ‘Ikkyu’ Nakajima, bassist Hiromi ‘Hirohiro’ Sagane, and guitarist Motoko ‘Motifour’ Kida, the group has gone through several drummers during their career - including original drummer Kazutaka Komaki – before settling on Yusuke Yoshida in 2017. In 2011, Tricot set up their own label, Bakuretsu Records, and released their debut album, T H E, in 2013, which reached Number 18 on the Japanese Albums chart. After the departure of original drummer Komaki, the band toured with several drummers until they found a permanent replacement in 2017. Tricot’s second album, A N D, was released in 2015 and climbed to Number 34 on the albums chart. Their third album, 3 (2017), hit Number 20 in Japan but rose to Number 5 on Billboard’s US World Albums chart. After the early 2020 release of their Black album, they celebrated their 10th Anniversary with the release of the album 10, which was released in October of that year. Their next album, Jodeki (translated: Well Done), was issued in December 2021 and featured a bonus disc of instrumental versions of the album’s 12 tracks. Tricot released their seventh album, Fudeki (Translated: Not Come Out) was released in December 2022, and like their previous released, included a bonus disc of instrumental versions.
